Hi, I’m Mel, the sole practitioner at Youth Side Therapy, Rockingham. I have created a warm and welcoming youth-friendly psychology counselling practice catering solely to the needs of young people aged 12 to 25 years old. I assist with mild to moderate mental health and/or neuro-divergent conditions including Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I also provide counselling psychology for Autistic young people under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
I look forward to meeting you!
Having provided psychological counselling to a diverse range of young people over the past 15 years, I understand the unique developmental needs and challenges they experience.
I take a more casual and flexible approach to counselling with young people. My style is youth-friendly, neuro-affirming and trauma-informed. I offer a variety of evidence-based psychology interventions specifically tailored to adolescents and young adults – Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT, Interpersonal Therapy and Strengths Based Therapy to name a few! Therapy is also modified to meet the unique needs of neuro-divergent young people. I offer counselling in person at Rockingham as well as virtually and via telephone.
I also know the importance of family, school and wider supports for young people, therefore my approach is holistic, consultative and as family-centred where possible.
* Please note that as my main area of interest is in counselling psychology, I do not provide diagnostic assessments for Autism and ADHD*
I'm available for a free 10 minute telephone or virtual chat to answer your questions and to see if I am the right psychologist for you. Reach out to Melinda Donohue at Youth Side Therapy Rockingham on 0478 709 971 or email via hello@youthsidetherapy.com
